Abstract:
In a global world in continuous change, the University Teaching is called to create new techniques that facilitate the learning process. However, the number of students enrolled in class makes difficult to supervise, individually, the student´s learning development.
In this paper it is proposed a teaching tool that evaluates automatically the exercises carried out by the students. Using the free software R, a set of exercises is customized for each student encouraging them to resolve these exercises by themself.
Another advantage is that this tool let the teacher mark the exercises quickly, which is important because the student obtain the feedback soon. Furthermore, it makes difficult the plagiarism since every student has his/her own exercises.
It has been implemented in different groups of the subject Quantitative Techniques I of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Granada. It was applied to the index numbers topic which is an interesting issue in these areas.
The results are satisfactory since on the one hand, the students work singly to have their own solutions. On the other hand, this way of proceeding stimulates teamwork among students to resolve doubts, etc.
