Abstract:
It can be observed that children and young people have difficulties in relating to their peers in an assertive way. When faced with a situation that is difficult for them, they often adopt an aggressive style (insulting, threatening...) or at the other extreme, behaving passively and not expressing their thoughts, emotions, etc. Assertiveness is the capacity or ability to express opinions, desires and/or feelings without causing harm to others.
According to the "IV Report on Bullying in Schools", developed by the Anar Foundation and the Mutua Madrileña Foundation, 24.4% of students believe that there is a classmate in their class who is being bullied. The development of training programs for students to identify relationship styles and learn to use the assertive style instead of the passive or aggressive style can help to reduce bullying figures.
For this reason, this work designs an educational proposal to promote the assertive style in secondary school students. The general objective is to promote the assertive style of interpersonal relationships in secondary school students. To this end, an initial evaluation is carried out, a training program to learn and work on the three main styles of relating (assertive, aggressive, and passive), and a final evaluation to assess the impact of the training program.
The proposal pursues the following objectives: That students learn about and experimentally practice the main relationship styles; That students are able to identify the relationship styles in group or individual situations; and finally that students reflect and conclude that the assertive style is the most positive of the three styles proposed.
The proposal has been divided into a set of sessions with a realistic timeframe, and includes a methodology for the evaluation of the results and the continuous improvement of the proposal. Keywords:
