Abstract:
The article summarizes the results of the design, implementation and evaluation of an immersive virtual reality and 360 ° video experience at the Tecnológico de Monterrey. Educational innovation is presented like a time travel: past, present and future with the purpose of providing students with a comprehensive view of urban sustainability. Immersive learning allows the students to have the feeling of being part of a physical environment and to be involved in their own learning processes under the supervision of the teaching team. To travel to the past, two 360 ° videos were designed on the Sumerian and Roman civilizations that allowed us to venture into the cities of Ur (Mesopotamia) and Pompeii. The trip in the present allowed us to contrast the current situation of various urban variables in Buenos Aires, Sao Pablo, Hong Kong and Bangkok thanks to the 360 ° video. While for the future, virtual reality was used through Google earth, making tours at street level in some of the European Green Capitals. The results show a satisfactory valuation of 91% of the opinions. It is concluded that the dynamics allowed closing the gap in content learning by experiencing them through immersive learning.
