Abstract:
Today young specialists in any sphere of life are required to speak a foreign language which is perceived not only as a necessary means of international communication but also as an important professionally-oriented skill. In this paper, the authors investigate the impact of the International Business French Competition “Le mot D’or” on teaching French to bachelors in the universities of Tatarstan, Russia.

The modern French language is very sensitive to all linguistic neoplasms: the economic crisis and the political struggle bring to life terms that are not always recorded in dictionaries. Thus, the translation of such words, understanding and searching for appropriate equivalents becomes a challenge, since different sources can contain even conflicting options.

The aim of the research is to prove that Le mot D’or Competition is an effective means of achieving professionally oriented goals for students through the development of modern French language standards. The material for the study is the lexemes, terms and neoplasms related to information technology, sports, business, banking and the financial and economic sphere, as well as the tasks of Le mot D’or Competition.

The authors of the paper relied on such research methods as selection, analysis, synthesis, comparing and contrasting, which allowed them to draw certain conclusions. The findings provide a range of unique lexical units in the French language that can be used to replace foreign terms. Moreover, a range of unwanted Englishisms has been identified, examples of the correct use of French words as well as ways to replenish the vocabulary of the French language have been provided.
