Abstract:
In this publication we present the incorporation of video in the process of teaching-learning at Degree in Industrial Design and Product Development Engineering. We used this teaching resource as a means of transmitting knowledge, skills and procedures, with the goal of promoting student autonomy. The purpose of this research is to develop the skills necessary for students to develop manuals renderings of industrial products designed by themselves.
The use of educational resources based on video tutorials and video screen capture (screencast) allow students to carry out the teaching-learning process asynchronously and non-presential. In this sense the European Space for Higher Education and specifically the Universitat Jaume I, establishes a significant burden of non-presential work by students. Therefore it may be appropriate to use the video as an educational resource. It can also reduce the development time for improve the skills for elaborate manual rendering with marking pen and digital sketching tools.
Initially students learn how to simulate different materials that may compose an industrial product using traditional manual techniques basically with marker pen and crayons. Once these technical skills are acquired by students it is the time to move to the digital medium. Simulating the same finishes with the tools that offer different sketching software and the help of graphics tablets.
Finally, renderings will serve to show the designs of the students in a conceptual stage of development. Thereby allowing graphically expose their proposals, showing them mechanisms, modes of interaction and product use, ergonomics, components, etc.. prior to further 3D modeling. Keywords:
