Abstract:
Changing teaching methods in the European Higher Education Area implies the need to periodically analyse and to ascertain the rate of acceptance of the new teaching approaches. Increasingly more practical subjects sometimes require students to perform more non-attendance activities in order to acquire better knowledge and skills. However, these tasks may not always be properly conducted because of a number of factors we should know.
In order to identify the possible causes affecting poor performance of some students, we have investigated students’ prior experience in the use of different representation techniques. Similarly, we evaluated the timing of each practical work to verify that they take place in the most appropriate time of year, and we met each student individually to ascertain the main difficulties encountered for the proper monitoring of classes. With all this information, it has been possible to design an action plan to be implemented during the next academic year. Keywords:
