Abstract:
The European Higher Education Area is consolidated this year with the introduction of new degrees in all European universities, harmonizing the European educational area. It introduces changes in the methodology of teaching focused on student self-directed learning, a training for skills acquisition, improved educational relationship between teachers and students through a more personalized treatment, better relationship between attendance and non-attendance activities, and establishing a system of continuous evaluation.
However, while this new framework for university education is associated with an improvement in overall quality of teaching, studies should be undertaken periodically to assess the success of its implementation in specific subjects.
This document outlines the harmonized structure of the subject Artistic Expression I, belonging to the new Degree in Industrial Design and Product Development Engineering at the Universitat Jaume I of Castellon. At the same time, it shows a description of the developed exercices and a comparative analysis of results in past years -before the subject was harmonized- with those obtained this year. Although the new Degree has not been applied until now, it was thought appropriate to teach the subject for some courses as pilot experiences, in order to explore the scope of the new format, identify possible shortcomings and design effective solutions for the next years.
