Abstract:
Currently, cooperation between the universities and enterprises turns out to be one of the key trends in higher education (HE). It provides students with a practice-oriented education for the future. This article presents in the form of a case study five years of experience in teaching the subject Intellectual Capital and Innovation at the Faculty of Management, Comenius University in Bratislava. Within this course, student teams prepare Intellectual Capital Statements (ICS) for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) of their choice. They follow the standardized European InCaS guidelines. The article provides a description of the process of creating an ICS according to the InCaS methodology, characteristics of the companies for which the ICS has been already prepared within this course, as well as the experience of teachers and feedback from students for the five-year period of existence of this subject. It also describes the advantages and disadvantages of this approach, as well as opportunities for further improvement. There is also described the experience with the specifics of this form of education in online environment during the current Covid-19 pandemic in this article.
