Abstract:
In all developed countries, early childhood education is considered an important part of lifelong learning. Every national education policy also aims at strengthening and improving this education so that children are well prepared for compulsory schooling and have an equal chance and the prerequisites to succeed in primary education. In our country, all children are required to attend pre-primary education and must be enrolled before entering the first grade of primary school. As part of the enrolment process, it is examined whether the child meets the conditions set for starting compulsory education and whether he or she has the necessary knowledge and skills to cope with primary school.

Children grow up in different circumstances, have different social and intellectual backgrounds, genetic predispositions and knowledge base at the time of entry to school. Since 2021, Slovakia has become part of the countries in which compulsory pre-primary education has been enacted. The mission of the kindergarten is to promote the child's personal development whether in the emotional, physical, intellectual, moral and aesthetic areas. Thus, it develops the abilities and skills of each individual child and thus shapes the prerequisites for subsequent education. It provides comprehensive preparation for children for life in society, taking into account the individual social and age specificities of children. In the defined standards of pre-school and compulsory pre-school education, we can directly perceive the need to use information and communication technologies to its attractiveness and efficiency, respecting not only the needs of children but also the digital age.

In the article, the authors write about their experience in the application of ICT and other digital technologies in pre-school education as well as about their possibilities in the distance form of education of children, especially before their entry into compulsory schooling. They will share their experiences they have gained during their children's distance learning preparation for school. They describe their proven suggestions and ideas for distance education.
