Abstract:
In this paper we will introduce the RPG soft to evaluate each child in class at once and its system and how well children enjoy playing the game without noticing it is a diagnostic test. The RPG server on the intranet has already been developed under this research project. The analysis of questionnaires show all graders (100% of the first graders, 86% of the second graders and 95% of the fifth graders) answer that the story was interesting. This means children enjoyed talking and shopping with main character, Newton using iPods. The analysis of the ratio of the correct answers show that children try to guess the context of the RPG story with help of the sound and the sight. You could see how well each child is absorbed in "shopping" for Newton, through a class video. The system between iPods, an electric board and the computer measures how well the students understand the story; contents in English class and gathered the data of diagnostic tests on the game. This numerical evaluation is carried out for first graders (n=27), second graders (n=28) and fifth graders (n=38) in 2015 and in 2016, the correct answer rate of the first graders (28%) and the second graders (33%) was much lower than the fifth graders (81%). Comparing the level of the comprehension competence by each grade, it is obvious that as a grade goes up, the competence increases. The analysis of questionnaires shows that all graders (100% of the first graders, 86% of the second graders and 95% of the fifth graders) answer that the story was interesting. It is clear that children accept ambiguity, understand the story and enjoy themselves and how well the active learning software contributes to nurture children’s foreign language acquisition. Moreover considering the reaction speed of response for each questionnaire suggests children’s cognition for each. This hypothesis is derived from the data of the system.
In 2020, English will be taught as a subject. The video shows children are enjoying the pleasant numerical value evaluation. This system to evaluate English listening abilities contribute the numerical evaluation.
