Abstract:
During 2020, the higher education selection test registration in Chile had a drop of nearly 15%. This situation affected the system which is officially constituted of 159 institutions, grouped into: universities (60), vocational institutes (43), technical training centers (46) and higher education institutions dependent on the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement and National Security (10).

Admission to Higher Education in Chile considers special transversal access to all institutions affiliated to the system, mainly regulated by the Ministry of Education in terms of requirements and financement. Complementing these special admissions each of Higher Education Institutions operates a series of particular initiatives that have taken special relevance due to: a. Academics merits and talents evidence from the secondary education; b. Social demands for equal access; and c. Contingency triggered by the global sanitary emergency. Alternatives are generally aimed at fulfilling the institutional mission through the equilibrium of a fair balance to the socio-economic conditions of students and the nature of complexity in the search for talent to contribute to welfare of society, without discrimination of any kind.

In this research, the team of the Students Life Cycle (CIVE, in spanish) at the University of Talca presents the factors that would determine one of the new proposals for special admission focused and the expected performance of students in a virtual platform (LMS: LEV) that contains the learning objectives of the secondary education as well as advanced levels to be articulated with higher education programs.
