The article focuses on identification of family environment determinants that affect relationship between students of bachelor degree and their university. It emphasises conditions of family environment and its particulars, stressing that family not only provides economical background for a student, but it also motivates and guides student throughout his/her studies, as well as influences student´s behaviour and value orientation in both professional and personal life.
The main focus of university students is their study during which they are able to concentrate, use synthetic and evaluating thinking, crate and discover. Even though there is a certain attitude structure rooted in the personality of a university student, as well as structure of values and characteristic features for which formation family is responsible, peers and academic environment play an important role in this period of student´s life.

Pool of characteristic features, attitudes, opinions and values of students gained in previous developmental periods as an effect of various influences; family, school, peers, media and other institutions and social groups, has a great importance in student´s attitudes towards university studies. Personal development of university student within family is determined by family background that Z. Bakošová (2009, p. 95) understands ambivalently – in a broad sense, the term educational family environment implies demographic, psychological, cultural and economical conditions, as well as life style, family value orientation and the educational model of a family. All of these attributes create unintentional educational environment that functions without intentional activity. In a narrow sense, this term concerns stimulus of these conditions in interaction with educational process, goals of family education and educational styles.

Psycho-social and cultural conditions and value orientation of family belong among important aspects of family environment influencing personality of university student during his ongoing developmental process.
Family represents social unit which levels of intrafamilial relationships not only influence its members directly, but also influence broader social environment indirectly. Family provides an individual with support and enables him/her to identify with it. Moreover, it gives individual freedom needed to develop and preserve his/her very own personality. The family influence on a personality of university student is a complicated phenomenon. It is mainly caused by its difficult separation from other factors and aspects influencing development of an individual.
