Abstract:
Time management is one of the main difficulties amongst students with learning disabilities which affect their academic and personal life. These difficulties do not go hand in hand with their cognitive abilities which lead to despair, frustration and incompetence.
The intervention program in this study focused on creating awareness and internalization of strategies in the field of environmental management, time management and learning management which includes the use of technological aids, chosen by each student, for example: using a digital calendar, class summaries and the use of x-mind software for mapping before an exam.
The intervention model in this study is based on the human professional who focuses on three components: the person's components, the component of the occupation and the components of the environment.
The main purposes of this study were:
1. To examine to which extent the intervention program had made an effect in the aspect of setting learning environment amongst its participants.
2. To examine in what extent the intervention program has made an effect on her participants in the field of time management.
3. To examine in what extent the intervention program has made an effect on her participants in the field of learning management.
4. To examine the influence of the intervention program on its participants in aspects of self-competence.
Methodology:
The study includes 28 adults participants diagnosed with learning disabilities and/or ADHD who were part of" NIZANE MAHUT" preparatory which took place in Mahut center in Kibbutzim College of Education. The participants answered a questionnaire which examines their position toward the components of the intervention program, before and after using the program. In addition 5 personal interviews were taken.
Findings:
The results have shown that the ability to manage time and to control the learning environment using different methods including technical aids allows the students to take control of his life and to improve his cognitive functions. Additionally, helped them to achieve goals during the time of the program as well as 2 years after that. Similarly to Dahan et al. research (2008).
It seems that learning of organizational planning skills attributes to the sense of 'SELF' and improves academic achievements.
Summary and discussion:
This study examines the influence of the intervention program in several strategies in the field of organizational learning. The program included learning strategies in the subjects of organized environment, time and learning management amongst adults challenged by learning disabilities and ADHD. The study examined the effects of the program prior, at the end and 2 years after the trail.
The program focused on creating awareness to the internalization of the strategies that were learned. The findings show that the ability to manage learning environment allows the student a better control of his life and improves his cognitive skills.
Due to the findings, we recommend that the research will be used by all of the preparatory students throughout the years. Keywords:
