Abstract:
The phenomenon of solidarity is deeply rooted in Polish history and culture. It is also a way to defend employee rights, which is particularly visible among some professional groups, for example among nurses who have been fighting for their rightful position in the healthcare system in Poland for years. On the other hand, the nursing community seems to be divided. So let's think about how nurses perceive professional solidarity?

How strong is the sense of solidarity among this professional group? To what extent is solidarity perceived by nurses as an opportunity for professional development, development of the nursing environment and the entire healthcare system? Can the professional solidarity of nurses help to improve the management system of healthcare organizations? Or maybe according to the discussed professional group this phenomenon also has a darker side?

In connection with the above questions, the aim of the article is to present the phenomenon of professional solidarity among the group of nurses, as well as to determine its significance for the processes of managing healthcare institutions. To test this, an electronic questionnaire was used to determine ways nurses understand professional solidarity and its importance for management of healthcare organizations. The findings from the research allowed to formulate specific recommendations useful in the management of healthcare organizations. They can be particularly helpful for directors of medical facilities, branch managers and departmental nurses, as well as for anyone interested in the subject of professional solidarity.
