Abstract:
The new strategy of Laurea University of Applied Sciences (UAS) defines openness as a key value guiding its operations and work. As a higher education institution focused on competence development, Laurea (UAS) follows the Learning by Developing (LbD) model in its teaching. This develops the competence of students, but also that of teachers and workplace partners.
Open learning has been studied and promoted both within Laurea UAS and through national cooperation involving higher education institutions in the context of a project, funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture, that focuses on the open RDI activities, learning and innovation ecosystem of universities of applied sciences. The focus of this article is on open RDI-integrated education.
The article discusses best practices of Laurea UAS in regard of openness in RDI-integrated learning. The analysis is based on the Policy Recommendations on Open Education in Europe. The ten dimensions of open education are access, content, pedagogy, recognition, collaboration, leadership, research, strategy, technology and quality. Keywords:
Open education, RDI integrated learning.
