Abstract:
This paper aims to identify and provide ways of improving the conditions for project-based practical placement of ERASMUS incoming students at Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania.
In recent years, the number of international students enrolled at Transilvania University of Brasov has steadily grown, and so has the interest in practical projects.
The authors briefly describe the general goals to be pursued in order to ensure the optimal working setting for developing practical projects.
Incoming students will be guided by teaching staff of Transilvania University of Brasov, as well as by professional engineers from industry. Upon completion of their placement, students will be required to present a report on a practical project, both in written and oral form. To better evaluate these projects, the authors bring forward new assessing procedures and tools in this article.
In order to receive a greater number of foreign students, Transilvania University of Brasov has improved its curricula and widened its choice of optional courses, in compliance with European policies in education.
The practical placement is perceived as a learning approach designed to stimulate students creatively so as to solve complex, practical problems that may help them in their future career.
For incoming students at Transilvania University of Brasov, the practical placement should be an opportunity to discover the local, academic and industrial environment, while equally gaining insight into Romanian lifestyle, in terms of cultural interaction. Keywords:
