Abstract:
In 2012-2013 the Faculty of Applied Economics at the University of Antwerp allocated all courses of its Bachelor and Master programmes to specific subject-related learning-teaching tracks. A learning-teaching track is defined as a collection of simultaneous or sequential courses within a study domain.

By introducing the learning-teaching tracks, we wanted to provide a meso level between the course (micro) and the programme (macro) level. This would help us to improve the coordination of the different courses, both within and between the various tracks. In a two-year pilot, we organised learning-teaching track meetings which focused on content and on the alignment with and between teaching and assessment methods. Since 2015-2016, the learning-teaching meetings are also used as a level to promote and implement general concerns of higher education, such as internationalisation, blended learning, sustainability, etc.

In our oral presentation we will focus on the design of the meso level as a management instrument and discuss its effectiveness by means of quality assurance measurements.
