Abstract:
The sustainable interventions for requalification of urban open spaces in relation to the surrounding natural systems is a particular focus of the environmental design curriculum. Which aims to the integration of traditional and innovative technologies with low environmental impact to help students become aware of the best approaches. This paper therefore covers pedagogical methods, case studies, best practices, and challenges in implementing sustainability into urban open spaces. The study highlights the potential of group-based interactive learning, international lectures, and field trips to engage students in recent sustainable approaches and real-urban projects. Acquiring technological knowledge requires gaining understanding from the analysis of case studies from different countries with a focus on the sustainable relevant aspects. Moreover, the best practice is giving students the necessary resources they need to requalify an existing urban open space using sustainable methods and technologies in alignment with the local industry needs.
