Abstract:
In this communication we described and we analyzed the application of new educational practices in the subject of Pedagogy 0-6 years of the degree of Infant School Teacher, of the University of Alicante.
We live in a society in which it is essential to know how to use the information and communication technologies (ICT) in all matters of our life; nevertheless, we realized that the majority of students, in the first years of university, is not able to take advantage of the potential that the ICT provide at present, and, given the apparent complexity of means and the network, usually they resort to general and little trustworthy sources to carry out their work ignoring other resources because they just do not know how to find them.
The objective is to obtain, besides the knowledge of the contents on the subject, the acquisition of some of the so-called digital skills, competency standards that were defined among others by UNESCO in 2008, so that they are able to use the technology efficiently, know to look for and to analyze the information, to solve problems and make decisions, are able to use creatively and effectively the productivity tools and know to communicate, to collaborate, and to share the knowledge working in teams.
There have been designed activities in which, among other things, is necessary to learn to explore and to select the right information from Internet, to classify it by means of categories and labels, to synthesize it and to express it as text and image, as much through blogs as of presentations, later to share it in the network. To carry out these activities, we have used some of the possibilities that provide Internet tools Web 2.0, like Google docs and Wordpress, software of productivity, and so much in the theoretical as in the practical part of the subject, it has been made an extensive use of laptops in the classroom.
At the end of the course, the students have evaluated through a questionnaire the experience of work in groups, in their positive and negative aspects, and the learning sensation that has provided them the different activities done, as well as a general evaluation on the subject, comparing it with the expectations they had at the beginning.
The results of this evaluation reflect a great general satisfaction: the students, who recognize that, although the amount and variety of activities has made them work harder, they have learned more. In addition, they have been related on a different way to the companions and the technology, and in spite of small technical and organizational difficulties, the achievements make us to repeat and to extend the experience in the future.
