Abstract:
Nursing informatics is the area of knowledge that studies the development and use of technological resources, in the assistance, teaching and management of the nursing care process. These include m-Health, which provides health information and services through mobile technologies. The use of technology to teach, monitor, promote care and greater family adherence to the care of the premature newborn is already a reality in nursing care. This study aimed to identify the mobile applications on the teaching of neonatal nursing in Portuguese / English and analyze the content of these applications. This is a cross-sectional and descriptive study, using the search engines of the Play Store and Apple Store, with the keywords: "neonatal nursing" and "neonatal intensive care unit", in English and Portuguese to identify existing applications on neonatal nursing. The search resulted in a total of 103 applications, but only 22 applications that addressed the theme of neonatal nursing. The applications covered the following topics: hospital care (54.54%), orientations for family members (27.27%), education (13.63%) and congress (4.54%). Only two applications followed the International Neonatal Care Guidelines, and an application developed in England won the : National Health Service (NHS) Innovation Challenge award. The development and application of m-Health technology in the teaching of neonatal nursing, allows to extend the instruments of the nursing process in neonatal units, so as to contemplate nursing theories and care based on scientific evidences, based on safety and quality of care for this premature infant and his family
