Abstract:
The paper aims to highlight the role of films and images, as a means of education, in the realization and development of the instructive-educational process in the classroom. In the context of today's society, faced with many and complex challenges, educational actors (teachers and students) are called to "leave the monotonous algorithm of routine", to use courage and responsibility to creatively apply new paradigms in designing and carrying out educational activities. This explains the orientation of modern didactics towards the development of a student-centered methodology, on interactive approaches that respect the age and individual psychological profile of the student, the needs and the own rhythm of learning.
The didactic activity, in its quality of process with finality, must be conceived, organized and conducted so that its objectives are achieved. For an effective educational approach, in addition to teaching strategies and methods, a series of educational means must be used. The means of education manifest a certain pedagogical potential, which is capitalized in the lesson for the achievement of the specific competencies pursued and directly influences the degree of participation of the students in the development of the educational process. The means become "tools" used by teachers in teaching and students in this learning activity.
Films and images, as teaching aids, are not only easy to use as teaching aids, but also have immediate and lasting effects in assimilating knowledge and learning strategies and techniques, with practical applicability by young beneficiaries of the educational process. The paper aims to capture the role of films and images as a means of learning in the instructive-educational process, from the perspective of high school students.
The research aimed at analyzing how students use new technologies to make, watch educational films / images (documentaries, relevant film sequences, etc.) in order to accumulate new knowledge.
In order to conduct a fact-finding study on students' perspectives on the use of films and images in teaching, the method of surveying interests was used, as a specific tool, the questionnaire. The study was conducted on a sample of 100 high school students, from urban and rural areas, in western Romania.
Following the analysis and interpretation of the answers obtained, it is noted: a greater openness on the part of students in terms of didactic capitalization of films, images compared to traditional means of education; the contribution of the media and elements of computer technology - as alternatives to informal education - to formal education. Keywords:
