Abstract:
In Mexico, basic education teacher training is mainly carried out in Teacher Training Institutions (TTI) known as "Escuelas Normales", covering the early childhood, preschool, primary and secondary education levels. In 2022, the Mexican Government presented a new curricular proposal with the Study Plans and Programs of the Bachelor's Degrees for the Training of Basic Education Teachers, in response to the new curricula for these levels of basic education that will be implemented for the 2023-2024 school year.

The implementation of a new curriculum for basic education teachers training is a complex process that involves a number of factors, including the alignment of the curriculum with the needs of the basic education syllabus, the availability of resources, and the capacity of teachers to implement it.

This study examines the perspective of teachers in three in three TTI towards the implementation of a new curriculum for basic education teachers training. For this research, a qualitative approach with a descriptive design was used. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with 11 teachers from three TTI in Yucatan, Mexico to explore the teachers' perceptions of the new curriculum's relevance to the needs of the basic education syllabus, the challenges they face in implementing it, and the resources they need to be successful.

The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to provide more resources, training, support and specialized courses to teachers. In addition, it is recommended to continue with the counseling and collegial work, especially for the design of the subjects of the curriculum that correspond to the state framework.
