Abstract:
The socio-environmental focus of the aerospace sector seeks to integrate sustainability and environmental awareness in communities through public policies and the link with local productive vocations. This research article aims to sensitize selected communities of Guelavia and Tilcajete in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, about sustainable development and the aerospace sector from a socio-environmental perspective. The connection between the aerospace sector and the communities was established through the implementation of a satellite monitoring project focused on tracking and studying climate change in these regions. To achieve this, methods such as interviews, surveys, fieldwork, and workshops were used. The research methodology was based on direct interaction with participants from the chosen communities, conducting interviews to understand their current knowledge about the aerospace sector and sustainable development. Surveys were applied to collect quantitative data on community perceptions and attitudes towards socio-environmental problems. The fieldwork allowed us to observe and analyze the interaction of local productive vocations with the aerospace sector. Workshops were also held that provided spaces for reflection and awareness, promoting the understanding of socio-environmental problems and exploring practical solutions. The results of this research were the inclusion of a greater awareness and understanding of the socio-environmental problem in the studied communities. The existing interactions between the aerospace sector and local productive vocations were identified, which could lead to concrete proposals to promote the sustainable development of the sector. These proposals included mechanisms to support communities to address environmental problems and use natural resources more efficiently. Keywords:
