Abstract:

Environmental education is a determining factor in raising awareness about the problems that affect the planet today, such as climate change, water pollution, etc. Knowledge related to these issues helps people understand and face the consequences of these problems, motivating them to change their behavior, and helping them to adapt to what is already a global concern.

Explaining to society about the changes caused by the environmental problems currently experienced requires understanding the interdependence between the productive vocations and the aeronautical sector, which configure their interactions in the communities.

The link between public policies aimed at integrating the principles of sustainable development in the aeronautical sector and productive vocations are essential issues to promote awareness of the effect of caring for the environment by human beings, consequently supporting a better distribution of all resources for the protection of the environment.

This study shows an investigation that carried out workshops in communities near airports and tourist destinations about sustainability and the environment, also conducting interviews, surveys, and fieldwork to sensitize the communities chosen for this study, which are located in different states of Mexico on sustainable development and the aeronautical sector from a socio-environmental approach.

During the activities carried out, the research participants reflected on the importance of linking the aeronautical sector with the productive vocations of the communities, creating spaces for reflection and awareness that promote and understand socio-environmental problems in their multiple dimensions, that connect nature and society that enable the praxis of socio-environmental transformation.

The results of the study served to propose mechanisms to promote sustainable development in the aeronautical sector about the productive vocations of the communities from a socio-environmental approach based on a set of pedagogies that support the awareness of socio-environmental issues and the deployment of actions to address environmental problems.
