Abstract:
Scope:
The presentation explains the integration of various apps to teach grammar points in a 1st year university course, and how other apps are used to encourage students to demonstrate their understanding of the grammar point.
Students today are never without their phones, iPads, Notebooks, etc. Because of this, incorporating apps into teaching is a logical and innovative way to captivate the students attention and imagination. Their use allows for new ways to show how the grammar works, and fun and interesting ways to show what they learned. In addition, the students level of comfort is increased and their anxiety surrounding learning another language is eased because the students are engaged. Introducing new and innovative techniques that are familiar to the students can also serve to increase motivation to learn Spanish by making it more accessible.
Objective:
Like most instructors, the search for novel and engaging strategies and techniques to teach Spanish in on-going. The goal of using apps in the classroom is to reach as many students as possible, and also to have the students use apps to create assignments using the grammar point.
