Abstract:
The level, quality and content of education of specialists and the population as a whole are of decisive importance in ensuring the sustainable development of society. The Strategy of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe for Education for Sustainable Development was adopted in Vilnius in 2005. The essence of the strategy is to move from a simple transfer of knowledge and skills necessary for existence in modern society to a willingness to act and live in rapidly changing conditions, participate in social development planning, learn to anticipate the consequences of actions. This means improving the quality of formal and non-formal education by switching from the information-reproductive type of knowledge transfer to problem-searching and creative types of educational activities. This should contribute to the development of creative and critical thinking skills among the population. The educational activities of museums relate to non-formal education.

The modern socio-cultural role of museums in society in the XXI century should proceed from the understanding that museums, as an integral part of global culture, store, study, exhibit authentic exhibits - witnesses of human life, his spiritual and material culture. The cultural heritage of peoples serves through the museum to meet the social needs of a person, such as memory, systematic study of history, value attitude to national heritage, morality, etc. Today's museum is becoming more and more a scientific and socio-cultural center. Thus, the mission of museums is changing significantly. Currently, museums occupy one of the leading places in the market of educational services.

In Spain, in recent years, new forms of presenting museum exhibits, reviving museum expositions, joint projects with foreign museums, etc. have also begun to appear.

Thus, the European branch of the Russian Museum opened in the city of Malaga (Spain) on March 25, 2015. Today, the Russian Museum has the world's largest collection of Russian fine art. The museum's collection (about 400 thousand works of painting, sculpture, folk art) allows you to present not only the history of Russian fine art, but also the history of Russian culture from the IX to XX centuries.

Currently, the Malaga Museum is the only center in Spain where you can permanently exhibit works from the State Russian Museum.

It is important to note that the Museum of Malaga currently has established, deep cultural traditions in the field of multi-level museum and educational activities. It is worth emphasizing that the cultural space of an art museum is inextricably linked with education not only for adults, but also for children and youth, as well as for people with disabilities. So, in addition to exhibitions of works from the collection of the Russian Museum, the branch hosts master classes, lectures, creative workshops, performances, meetings, musical concerts, film screenings. Along with the exhibition space, the branch includes the Information and Educational Center "Russian Museum: Virtual Branch", a children's educational center with creative workshops, cinema halls, etc.

This cooperation provides an opportunity for socio-cultural dialogue and thus contributes to the stable development of bilateral relations between the states in the 21st century, and also allows for the development and continuity of important artistic and cultural activities of the two countries.
