Abstract:
In connection with the need for education in waste and waste management, the project "Modernization of Education and Interdisciplinary Approach in the Category Waste and Waste Management" was created. Its task was to develop environmental education focusing on waste and waste management and a regional approach, personalities of the future generation, and a systemic approach in education. Environmental education has a firm place in education at primary schools. In environmental education focused on waste, emphasis must be placed on the parallel development of the functions of the next generation so that they can think creatively and freely and act to preserve the quality of life and create a harmonious coexistence with nature. All these tasks are made possible by e-learning education.

In this paper, we present the importance, significance and justification of the education of primary school pupils in the environmental field with the help of an e-learning course. The e-learning course "Modernization of Education and Interdisciplinary Approach in the Category Waste and Waste Management" generally focuses on waste, separation and recycling with an orientation on educational aims and their application in practice. From the e-learning course, we chose the topic entitled "Biodegradable municipal waste and composting ". We oriented on how to behave "environmentally friendly in everyday life". Education and training focused on the biodegradability of municipal waste is a tool for the systematic formation and development of professional knowledge and acquiring new experiences of pupils.

The selected topic of the e-learning course uses methods like lectures and experiential learning to meet environmental objectives. In addition, the question-and-answer method and unstructured observation have been chosen to meet other aims.

The topic aim is to point out the possibilities of how to process and recycle biodegradable municipal waste generated in households. It draws attention to the colour marking of containers for biodegradable municipal waste, their number and distance in housing estates and family houses. It compares the possibilities of recycling biowaste in individual households. For practice, it proposes a scheme for the treatment of biowaste in composting sites. The presented topic is about using interdisciplinary relationships (chemistry, biology, environmental studies) in solving the selected issues and then the consolidation and deepening of the curriculum. At the same time, the monitoring pupils' interest in the recycling of biodegradable municipal waste. In terms of developing skills and competencies, our intention is for pupils to be able to: handle biowaste; design a composting site model; apply correct procedures in the preparation and composting site in school conditions; solve problems and think critically; to propose alternative methods related to biowaste.

Proper management of biodegradable municipal waste is a challenge. We believe that together, we will be a part of the right solutions and decisions reducing, separating and recycling a waste generated. It is necessary to use innovative methods to address this task, such as awareness-raising e-learning programs for pupils. With this e-learning topic, we want to support proper waste separation and recycling activities, maintaining the quality of health and hygiene, and effective compliance with applicable laws.
