Abstract:
The primary aim of teachers at elementary schools is to increase the quality and efficiency of education of school-age youth. Primary school teachers use only very little e-learning as an educational tool during the educational process. In most cases, the presence of Internet technologies in education is limited to seeking information and only rarely also for communication. One of the reasons may be the lack of e-learning courses in a particular area and the lack of knowledge while using e-learning.
The paper presents the meaning, importance, and merits of education of primary school pupils in the subject of chemistry while using the e-learning course. E-learning course “Modernization of Education and Interdisciplinary Approach in the Category Waste and Waste Management” is focused on the environment especially on the chemical composition of wastes from the perspective of educational work and concerning its application in practice. Education and training on the chemical composition of wastes is a tool for the systematic formation and development of pupils’ professional knowledge and skills. As an example of the e-learning course, we chose a worksheet of the topic named “Chemical composition of waste and its proper sorting”.
E-learning education of pupils of the 7th grade of primary school using a worksheet pursues the following aims: environmental, didactic and observation aims. The task is to verify pupils’ knowledge of proper waste sorting based on its chemical composition; verify that pupils are informed about the sorting of waste in their vicinity and how to reduce its amount; to find out whether the pupils know the procedures for the treatment of sorted waste and the possibilities of its further use. The selected topic of the e-learning course focused on the chemical composition of waste and its proper sorting uses methods like lectures and experiential learning to meet environmental objectives. Question-and-answer method and unstructured observation have been chosen to meet other objectives. The aim of the paper is to point out the negative impacts of waste, which may have an impact on the environment and thus on the health of the population. Further to compare the possibility of collecting sorted waste in family houses and housing areas. Draw attention to the color division of waste and the number of containers for separate collection. Create a scheme for how to collect and separate waste. Point out the waste commodities that are sorted.
Considering the process of creating an effective system of upbringing and education, it is the use of cross-curricular relations in solving the selected issue and consequently the consolidation and deepening of the knowledge of the subject of chemistry. We observe the relationship and interest of pupils about the topic collection of sorted waste. Considering the development of competences and skills, our intention is for pupils to be able to: handle waste; apply waste sorting into practice; address waste-related problems and think critically; design a model to reduce waste; propose alternative procedures; create a model for waste sorting. The described e-learning course consists of 10 topics. It consists of methodical sheets for teachers and worksheets for pupils of the elementary school. It was prepared with the aim of acquiring new knowledge. Such a knowledge base is open to new methods and ideas and considering e-learning, the option of continuously adding new materials and knowledge. Keywords:
