Abstract:
Botany is a basic subject in university degrees such as Biology, Agronomic Engineering or Forest Engineering. Teaching this subject requires the use of visual resources to illustrate biological cycles, taxonomic relationships and other concepts. Several universities around the world hold teaching resources related to Botany and some of them are available on the internet. Making use of these materials can help students in their autonomous learning. The present work summarizes the searching for useful resources in different websites. The objective was to include resources related to Botany and Plant Biology in the wide sense, so useful for a large number of instructors. Only quality websites were explored, mainly developed by universities, botanical gardens or botanical associations. Most of the materials found were developed by universities in North America, so English was the vehicular language. Some examples of the resources found were: videos showing the development of different plants at high-speed, creative videos related to Plant Biology, complete courses online, pictures free when used for educational purposes and even a blog for discussions for university teachers of Botany. In conclusion, several quality resources are available on the internet related to Botany and Plant Biology. The use of these materials can contribute to improve teaching methods, interchanging experiences and promote autonomous learning
