Abstract:
In the Course of Translation Theory taught at the Foreign Language Bachelor Degree at the Facultad de Ciencias Educativas in the Universidad Autónoma del Carmen, the use of Internet was implemented as a tool to develop translating competence. For this purpose, a case study was designed, in which Internet was used, both as a reservoir and as a social community to research about translation and correct translation students’ output. Students’ results regarding researching about translation theory, analysis and corrections of their output and the application of the literature reviewed were recorded by means of an electronic file and a class diary. The results evidenced the course development, the students’ improvements, as well as their translating competence. As sum, by the end of the study, the students were able to identify translation procedures and apply such procedures to the translation of brief informative texts.
