Abstract:
Drawing training is one of the most impressive and remarkable subjects of the human being's expressive capacity. The dazzle over a complete language of technique, sensory perceptions and persistence. The apparent complexity of acquiring basic drawing skills is sometimes the first obstacle that individuals face when trying to express themselves through drawing, namely by the use of graphic diaries. Graphic diaries are substantially distinct to other media in terms of portability, archiving and restraints in size and materials and allow simpler and rewarding first experiences to the drawing practice.

This presentation will share our experiences when building and designing a Graphic Diary drawing MOOC on the Open edX LMS platform.

In order to better design and implement the course, prospective teachers must acquire a reflective and critical training (Barros-del Río, 2019), oriented towards social commitment (Yogev and Michaeli, 2011). This implies the construction of a critical teaching identity among the candidates during their training process (Dvir and Avissar, 2014).

We will illustrate every option and decision taken during the course design, from defining the course main objectives, the video design and editing, the quizzes and module assignments.

Additionally, we will share the results and the priceless feedback of the students from the first edition of the course (2706 students) developed on the Iversity platform and the second one foreseeable in April developed on Open edX platform. Moreover, we're going to make a comparative analysis between the two platforms, on the students and provider perspectives.

We will also explore and share the interaction between the course design and the possibilities offered by the Open edX LMS.
