Abstract:
We present a series of teaching experiences in a first year Abstract Algebra course in the degree of Mathematics (Universidad de Oviedo, Spain). These experiences show the transition from a traditional education methodology to a new one based on the competence paradigm introduced by the Bologna Declaration. This transition, which has been gradually promoted by the lecturers, will be finished next year with the introduction of the new degree in Mathematics. Trends in student behaviour and results will be presented, together with the different changes introduced. In order to achieve a better understanding of the actual situation of this Abstract Algebra course, we include a context summary of the degree in which it is taught. Keywords:
