Abstract:
In the last two decades the historical overview of women’s role in science has been studied towards a deeper understanding of the role of women scientists in different disciplines (chemistry, biology, medicine, technology, and, also in humanities). A lot of meetings and works have been focussed on women situation.
There are events focussed in increasing women perspectives to science but, unfortunately, all of these procedures do not get to young students, young girls to be precise. All these events are only prepared, applied, discussed and disseminated in scientific levels, higher educational levels, probably between women that understand the role of women scientists.
Our society needs to know more about the past relationship between science and women, sure but, we think that knowing today relationship between science and women is essential, especially for our young students and, it is essential to increase gender equality in a few years.
In a previous work, the young girls' feelings towards science and scientists were analyzed. An important lack of interest in science was detected and few girl students want to enrol in science careers. New measures focussed on young students and directed to girls are proposed in this study. Some of them are: Fighting against the idea that science careers are discouraging for women. Spreading science. Increasing science and the history of science and technology in school curricula. More publicity for scientist women. More visibility for science teachers' women.
By examining and discussing these measures the science community will have the opportunity to improve the relationship between women and science which will be perceived by young girls. Keywords:
