DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND SPECIALIZED TRAINING IN SUSTAINABILITY

The University has a relevant position within society, because it can contribute to consolidate values and actions, to promote critical and objective perspectives, and to support local, national and international initiatives. Within this sphere of influence, the University must continue advancing in the internalization and projection of social innovation solutions, providing tools for present and future generations to be able to address the new global challenges. In this context, the aim of this study is to address, from higher education, two of the global challenges facing our society: digital transformation and sustainability.

In the era of digital transformation and the global challenges associated with sustainability, finance and accounting subjects cannot be disconnected to the new scenarios that organizations face. Therefore, extra-financial risk management, as well as, the applications of the new information systems and technologies in finance and accounting are key areas to be integrated in the curricula of degree and master degree subjects associated with finance and accounting fields.

In this context, this study seeks to contribute to the development of relevant skills to digital transformation and sustainable development. This objective will be addressed through the design of innovative learning activities in higher education, that allow the integration of the latest advances in sustainability and digital transformation in the curricula of subjects associated with finance and accounting fields. This paper helps increase student motivation by showing them the business social reality and providing them essential knowledge and tools for their professional future.
