Abstract:

Biochemistry is a dynamic and fascinating science. The study of this matter is an amazing trip for all the students that have a first contact with this subject. At the Complutense University, Biochemistry subject will be taught in the new Degrees of Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry in the next course 2010/11. Due to the experimental character of this matter, the practical classes are very important for the students. For this reason, we have elaborated a new innovation project to apply to the teaching of this practical classes. This project involve the elaboration of audiovisual materials and new practical guides that allow to adapt these classes to the Higher Education European Space, where it is very important to give a more practical and guided formation to the student to acquire good and correct habits to work at a laboratory. The elaboration of this material has a triple function: firstly, these new materials allow to the professor to explain more easily the methodology and instrumental techniques that the students will use at the laboratory; secondly, the students will know how some procedures that can not be made by the student because the length of the class is short are carried out by the technicians and/or professors. And, finnally, the use of audiovisual media and the new information technology will make easier the understanding of the work that the student will carry out at the laboratory, and the basic concepts that the students will have to acquire when the practical classes finish.
