Abstract:

Universities that educate in the field of security try to identify the requirements and necessary knowledge for their graduates from security practice. Given the current situation, the need to secure the objects, monitoring and regulation of the movement of persons, it is necessary to adapt the content of education. The result was the adaptation of study programs at universities, and the involvement of technical subjects in education in the field of security. More subjects have been added to the study programs, which partially discuss the area of security systems than Access Control Systems (ACS). In practice, security managers perceive ACS as one of the basic elements of object security. Therefore, universities should also pay close attention to the education of ACS and involve students practically. During the research of the actual state of education the subject of ACS at universities were found differences. Each university that teaches this subject has a different scope of curriculum, uses a different approach and education methods. The content of the course is often insufficient and the course is uninteresting for students. Some universities have theory-based education linked to practical exercises on high level, and provide them with sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge. The main goal of the article is based on the evaluation of theoretical research to identify and summarize the most appropriate methods and approaches used in educational process of the technical subject of ACS and to propose options for modernization of education in this area. The survey was conducted at several state and private universities in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The paper points out the possibilities of innovative solutions in the practical education of the subject ACS. The results of the article can be used for universities and institutions that educate students in the field of security.
