Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to examine the perceived influence of instructional materials on teaching and learning of health education among lagos state secondary school students. The descriptive survey method was adopted for the study. The sample studied consisted of two hundred participants (n= 200) made up of female (n= 96) and male (n= 104) which was selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected from the respondents with the usage of self developed, structured and validated questionnaire while data analysis applied the descriptive statistics of frequency counts, percentages and Chi square to test the stated hypotheses. The results revealed that instructional materials will have significant influence on the teaching and learning health education, it also revealed that instructional materials will influence the performance of students. Recommendations of the study suggested that the government should ensure that there is adequate supply of instructional materials and strict compliance of the usage among teachers.
