Abstract:
The effects of globalization have influenced various sectors, namely in the transformation of education, where there is no longer a national policy but a mix of the global, the different, and the local. Consequently, the concept of citizenship has evolved and the way it should be taught has accompanied these changes. It is a new curricular issue that represents several challenges in terms of content, contexts, and types of approach. Thus, Citizenship and Development is gaining a place in the curricular matrix in all cycles, whether worked on transversally (1st cycle and secondary) or as a subject (2nd and 3rd cycles). Along with the extension of mandatory schooling comes the Profile of Students Leaving Mandatory Schooling, which aims to guarantee quality education for all.

This paper presents a project developed in the subject of Computer Applications B, taking as its starting point the introduction to programming and financial education from the subject of Citizenship and Development. Applying the project-based methodology, the students programmed interactive stories and educational games, communicating the importance of saving to students in the 4th year of elementary school. The study aims to present the impact that both subjects with transversal content have on the development of the areas of competence listed in the Profile of Students Leaving Compulsory Schooling.
