Technology has enhanced and changed the field of higher education. The focus would be graduate studies and how technology has enabled these programs to be assessable to a multiaudience. The focus would be traditional graduate programs migrating to online/hybrid programs.

Background of professional PhD programs: this would include a brief history of professional degree programs and the components of these programs.

Background of traditional PhD programs: again, a brief history, but focusing on the question if they still necessary today in every field? Is it realistic to spend approximately six years studying a subject, such as technology, library science, education, that constantly changes?

Shifting demographics of students seeking an advanced degree: the majority higher education degrees are being sought by people who have practiced in the field and are in their 30s.
