Abstract:
There is widespread recognition that international education brings benefits to the economic, social and commercial interests of countries. It is thought that the harmonisation of institutional and national internationalisation strategies will bring positive results in the development of society. In the case of institutions of higher education, such activities are considered to be of significant advantage, for instance, in improving the employment opportunities of students both at home and abroad. Since innovation is not alien to institutions of higher education, the outcome of research into the careers of graduates has prompted institutions to set up a number of double degree programmes which aim to integrate best practices in higher education both in Hungary and abroad. Budapest Business School has been running such programmes at undergraduate and post-graduate level for nearly one and a half decades. It is now, however, in the process of redesigning these programmes with a view to introducing practice-orientation using the results of research carried out with employers. The study aims to investigate the extent to which the current programmes comply with the needs and requirements of employers. Areas needing change and improvement are identified. As part of the institutional internationalisation process, the study examines practice-oriented programmes and intercultural competence development training. Keywords:
Internationalisation, practice-orientation, globalisation, curriculum design, intercultural competence.
