Abstract:
The current trend for the Czech primary schools is purchasing 3D printers. For the effective use of these devices, it is necessary to have at least a basic knowledge in the field of 3D models. In that case, schools may change their educational curricula and plans to implement 3D models in lessons, otherwise the 3D printer would stand aside as an idle thing. The article deals with the question of how far are the students of the first school (Age: 6 – 11) and the lower secondary school (Age: 11 – 15) limited by the environment while creating 3D models (in the SketchUp program) from the point of view of creativity.
Students have passed 3D model training based on our methodology. The output of their work was a 3D model, which was subsequently analyzed. The analysis was carried based on the 3D model evaluation in several categories. The analyses was proceeded from Urban figural test for creative thinking (TSD – Z). The test is originally assigned to analyze 2D drawings made by respondents of different age categories, therefore it was adapted to our research needs to evaluate 3D models.
The topic of the article is primarily focused on possibilities how to implement 3D model learning into basic education. Keywords:
3D model, 3D modeling, creativity, TSD – Z.
