Abstract:
The rising costs of admission to traditional higher education and the insufficient capacity for such studies make such education unacceptable for many people and students. In particular, the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us that modern education can also be carried out through information and communication (ICT) means. Since the world was not ready to transition from traditional face-to-face education to modern distance education, suitable platforms were created gradually. It turned out that the most effective platform used for distance learning is Massive open online courses, known by the abbreviation MOOC.
This paper aims to propose a procedure for creating a MOOC course for a specific university based on the analysis and comparison of selected MOOC platforms. Selected MOOC platforms include Canvas Network, iversity, Cognitive Class, Kadenze, Coursera, Khan Academy, edX, Udacity, FutureLearn and Udemy. This is a selection of MOOC platforms based on experts' recommendations. Criteria for comparison include access, content, communication, evaluation, the maximum number of participants, certification, interaction and creativity. The methods used to create the paper were analysis, synthesis, comparison and generalization.
The result is a proposal for a procedure for creating a MOOC course for a specific university. This proposal is based on the results of the analysis and comparison of MOOC platforms and their intersections from the answer to questions regarding the specific needs of the given university. Academic value, variety of courses, course functions, social functions and partner institutions involved were monitored.
