Abstract:
The paper describes a research project – Central students register (CSR). CSR is an information system for collecting, recording and reporting of information about Slovak universities students. This paper describes the brief history and aims of CSR. In the Slovak republic, the Higher education act obliges universities to administrate students register. University exports file with last year’s as well as present alumni data. These data files are used to generate reports for the financial needs of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic.
In the next section we analyze needs, standards and CSR demands from various organisations’ linked with CSR points of view. In the paper we also define existing and potential users of the CSR application.
In the end, this paper describes present state of CSR system and defines long-time -strategically- aims and to them leading activities monitored by CSR system. The fundamental reason for CSR system creation is universities students’ register necessary to satisfy statistic needs not only in Slovak Republic, but also for the needs of complex education system in the Europe Union.
CSR’s main functions are: - to serve for governmental agencies as a universities students register in Slovak republic, - to help universities as an information exchange medium about students attending more universities at once, - to collect statistical information about universities.
CSR’s future functions will be: - to help to universities diploma verification in Slovak republic, - to provide other governmental agencies with information in case of legislation changes (e.g. children allowance administration, tax levies, health insurance etc.)
