Abstract:
The aim of this work is to use the resources that the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) bring in order to develop a real laboratory that allows the access through the net. The students obtain remote access to real experiments. They can generate a test signal, acquire the response and analyze these measurements in their computer. With such objective in mind, the work described in the present paper develops a system that allows simultaneously multiple students to analyze the behaviour of certain practices belonging to courses of the University degrees on Electronic Engineering. The system is based on a WWW server machine, and also on different novel applications dedicated to the administration of the remote user’s access to the real experiments. The implemented prototype is devoted to the analysis of basic electronic circuits. However, once its operability has been proven, the prototype reveals itself as an easily applicable architecture to a DC motor workbench environment in order to implement its subsequent identification and control. The protocols, control programs and user interfaces that allows the data transmission and the hardware access have been programmed using Virtual Instruments (VI) designed with LabViewâ – Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench. LabViewâ is a graphical programming language widely adopted throughout industry, academia, and research laboratories as the standard for data acquisition and instrument control software.
