Abstract:
This research paper analyzes the impact of the development and implementation of interactive e-books, in the process of teaching and learning on students in higher education, specifically, on students from the major of Information Systems Engineering, at the Computer Science Faculty of Mazatlan, of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa.

An interactive electronic book is no longer just text on a page; rather, an interactive e-book offers a sensory experience driven not only in word, but in sight and sound as well. Interactions within an e-book can take a variety of forms: videos, quizzes & knowledge tests, checklists, maps, animations, links, interactive infographic, calculators. These elements allow publishers to create an immersive experience for readers that extend far beyond clicks.

The interactive e-books used in this research were designed and developed with the iBooks Author application.

Research design is quasi-experimental in two groups (experimental and control); both groups followed the subject of Fundamentals of Programming simultaneously. During the course, the experimental group used interactive e-books, while the control group used only printed books and notes.

The results of this study allow us to perceive positive changes in the level of interest, motivation and academic performance of the students who used this new technological tool.
