Abstract:
The Advanced Laboratory in Chemistry II as two parts, one corresponding to Physical Chemistry and a second to the Analytical Chemistry. This last was a core subject, taught at the fourth course of the Chemistry Grade. In order to stimulate the students to study and increase its punctuation, in a matter as Physical and Analytical Chemistry, in its last course, the professor purpose some advanced experiments that must be carried out in each laboratory practical session. The methodology was excite to the students in order to prepare, each lab couple or group, an orally exposition, in front of the other students of the same chemistry class, and also in presence of the professors, in order to moderate the exposition and discussion. All this process was performed in all of the ten practice classes, including determinations using atomic absorption, high resolution liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, electrochemical fluorescence and spectrochemical methods, at the beginning of each session. Besides, the students are charged to evaluate their colleagues, by means of a questionnaire including several questions about the presentation (form, communication and content) and a general opinion. Therefore, we expect the following achievements: to improve the individual preparation of the practice, to ameliorate the abilities to take an oral speech (non-verbal communication, expositive clearness, etc), and to train the evaluation skills, which can be useful for further self-evaluations.
