Abstract:
Nowadays, the institutions of medium and higher education require more than ever of new and upgraded laboratories that offer their students the opportunity to develop analytical and experimental abilities with the practice and development of experiments. The processes of knowledge transference, particularly with the use of the facilities of the laboratories, are essential for its optimal management. However, it is very common that, with a constant change in the laboratory instructor and the high capacitation costs, the information, experience and knowledge acquired from the use of these installations, is lost. The purpose of this research project is to present a new and innovative knowledge management system created for the use of the Integrated Manufacture Systems Laboratory (S.I.M. in Spanish). The S.I.M. laboratories are integrated by a manufacture cell with the objective that the engineering students can live the experience of working with machinery that they could work with in any manufacturing plant in their future professional life. In general, it is required a considerable amount of capacitation hours to learn and dominate a S.I.M. cell. One of the most considerable achievements of the proposed system is that any person with basic programming understandings can learn to operate a cell in a short period of time without the need of having an instructor. Additionally, with the proposed system it is also intended to create a significant impact to the actual techniques of capacitation of laboratory instructors in education centers, companies or organizations.
