Abstract:
In this paper is proposed a new method to decrease the number of car accidents due to the usage of cellphones while driving. The device is composed of an application for smartphones that disables any kind of chatting function like messenger and whatsapp at time movement is detected and a component that transmits wired connectivity for the rest of the passengers to have connectivity. Once the app registers via GPS that the speed in which the user is transported exceeds 20 km/h the system will activate. A function that marks the difference between other systems available in the market is that the driver cannot intervene in its functioning. In a study made to students of Tecnológico de Monterrey, the 81% of the people interviewed stated that they use their cellphones while driving and 35% suffered or know someone that has been involved in a car accident due to these reasons. This project has been developed by students is currently in registration of patents.
