Abstract:
There is a growing awareness of the urgency of addressing the new global challenges facing the planet, such as climate change, the greater frequency of catastrophes or growing inequality (World Economic Forum, 2022). In this context, on the one hand, the University will have a key role to face these new challenges and their impact on the 2030 Agenda (United Nations, 2020). On the other hand, considering the University can contribute to generating and transmitting knowledge, the set of initiatives defined by the European Commission in the new Sustainable Finance Strategy (European Commission, 2018) should be considered in university education and specifically in business management and finance subjects.

Therefore, the objective of this study is to promote the application of sustainability in the field of business management and finance, training professionals capable of integrating the European Strategy for Sustainable Finance and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) into the investment and financing decisions. To that end, it is necessary to consider the set of initiatives included in the European Strategy for Sustainable Finance, aimed at facing great global challenges, in the center of university education in the field of business management and finance. This objective will be addressed through the design of innovative learning activities in higher education that increase student motivation by showing them the finance and business social reality and providing them essential knowledge and tools for their professional future.
