Abstract:
The role of the higher-level teacher is exposed to many risks, psychosocial risk being one of the most important. This exhibition is directly related to the radical change within a short period of time that was carried out by the SARS - COV 2 pandemic. New teaching-learning methodologies and technological tools were adopted due to the change from in person classes to virtual sessions. The objective of this research is to determine the correlation between the work environment and the psychosocial risks of a Higher Technical Institution in the city of Guayaquil. This research is a quantitative, cross-sectional correlational study, with a population of 170 teachers, with a two-stage process i) using questionnaires for evaluating the psychological risks in Ecuadorian companies, and the work environment for Ecuadorian institutions. ii) calculating the result using bivariate linear regression with confidence intervals to identify correlations and estimate a risk level. As a result, we determined that the psychosocial risk factor, that generated a greater impact on the work environment in the teaching staff was workplace harassment, with an OR s 2,698 (1,01 - 7.2 at 95% confidence). In addition, we calculated that men presented 66% of psychosocial risk in the dimension of skills development, while women presented 50% under the same analysis. Finally, we deduced that 69% of teachers perceive an inadequate work environment. In conclusion, it can be inferred that the management of human and physical resources must be improved for the teacher of the Institution of Higher Technical Education of the city of Guayaquil with an emphasis on psychosocial prevention risk.
